Today is still rather overcast but there are more markets to
see. This afternoon we found the little church of St. Thomas.
We then got slightly turned around but after getting further
directions we found Petite France. This is
an obviously very old section of town with a very large percent of the
buildings being half‑timbered.
And much of it is on islands or along canals. Several centuries ago the Ill River was diverted into several canals that were used to power mills. The mills are no longer there but the canals make for a beautiful foreground for the buildings.

The markets in this area had just as many interesting and colorful displays as elsewhere in the city...
and the food looked just as good.
In the evening we went out again, this time with the tripod, to do some more photography of the beautiful lights. Results were much better with the tripod.
